Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has charged the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Prof. Siyan Oyeweso to make himself a father figure to the students and workers of the institution.
The monarch said a cordial relationship with the university community would afford Oyeweso a better opportunity to tackle the challenges confronting the university. 
Pledging to support the new Governing Council in its bid to further take the University to greater heights, Oba Ogunwusi charged Oyeweso to bring his wealth of experience to bear on Obafemi Awolowo University so that the dreams of the founding fathers would be realised.
The traditional ruler stated this when Oyeweso led other council members and the management team of the institution to his palace on a courtesy visit.
OAU spokesperson, Abiodun Olarewaju, in a statement, on Tuesday, stated that the revered monarch, who showered encomium on Professor Oyeweso for his wonderful disposition to the history of the Yoruba race, called on the historian to see his palace as his second home.
He implored the Pro-Chancellor to see himself as the father of all staff and students so that they would be free to discuss with him to find a lasting solution to their challenges.
Earlier, Oyeweso had eulogized the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Adesoji Aderemi, for giving out the land on which the University was built, adding that without his foresight, there might not be any University in Ile-Ife.
He commended the immediate past Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, for maintaining high cordiality between the town and gown, saying that history would not forget his invaluable contributions to the overall development of the university.
While thanking the current Ooni of Ife whom he fondly called his father, the Chairman of the Council informed the royal father that the present council would always seek royal advice anytime the need arises.
