The Nigerian Association of Pharmacists in Academia’s (NAPA) has said that it would hold its 22nd yearly scientific conference from August 19-23, 2024, at the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Sagamu Campus, Ogun State.
National Chairman of NAPA, Prof. Ezekiel Olugbenga Akinkunmi, who spoke with journalists in Ile-Ife, on Monday, said that the conference, with the theme, “Pharmacy Education, Research and Practice: Towards Local and Global Relevance,” would be attended by university administrators, academics, researchers, pharmacists, all healthcare practitioners, scientists, students, among others.
He noted that the theme of the conference was carefully choosing to impact participants, as well as offer opportunities for networking, knowledge sharing, among others.
Besides, Akinkunmi disclosed that Dr Kunle Tometi would be the Keynote Speaker, while the opening ceremony would be chaired by the Managing Director of Shalina Healthcare Ltd, Nigeria, Dr Opeyemi Akinyele.
He said: “Papers will be delivered by distinguished scholars, which include Director-General/CEO, Nigeria Natural Medicine Development Agency (NNMDA), Prof. Martins Emeje; Prof. Oluwatoyin Odeku of the University of Ibadan and Prof. Emmanuel Ibezim of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, on different aspects of academic as well as general pharmacy and healthcare practices.
The chief hosts of the conference will the President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Prof. Cyril Usifoh and the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Ayodeji Agboola, while the host will be the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, OOU, Prof. L.S. Kasim.
The conference will be concluded with the yearly general meeting of the association where new officers will be elected to run the affairs of the association.
