A coalition of Northern social movements has asked President Bola Tinubu to hold members of his ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) responsible for the destruction and looting of public property during the #EndBadGovernance protest in Kano.
The movement, under the platform of the Nigeria Patriotic Front Movement (NPFM), faulted the president’s national broadcast for failing to address the core demands of protesters. 
Briefing journalists Tuesday at the Kano press centre, the convener of the group, Comrade Abdulmajid Yakubu Daudu, said the Thursday demonstration, which started peacefully, was suddenly interrupted by another group organised by an APC chieftain.
Comrade Daudu expressed concern that while President Tinubu was prompt to highlight the devastation that erupted in Kano following the protest, the president was silent about those who sponsored anti-protest youth to unleash terror on those genuinely advocating for good governance.
The leader of the coalition lamented that despite several cases of injuries, maiming of innocent protesters, and destruction of property worth millions, the president’s address failed to address the masterminds of the crime.
The group, therefore, challenged Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to set up machinery to investigate those who attacked the peaceful protesters with the intent of bringing the culprits to book.
“If anyone is using the youths during the protest, it is those who deployed a presidential appointee to Kano state, with cash and arms, to thwart the 200,000-strong peaceful protest on August 1st against #EndBadGovernance in the country.
“We started peacefully before the carriers of clubs, sticks, metal bars, and torched tires brutally violated our procession. These so-called counter-protesters representing savage bourgeois interests in Abuja and Kano seem to enjoy some level of impunity,” Dauda stated.
The convener maintained that in spite of the attack, the coalition would continue to demand good governance, while asking the state governors to equally justify the resources disbursed to them to ease the suffering of the people.

He specifically urged the Kano state government to further relax the 24-hour curfew in the state to enable residents to return to their normal search for means of livelihood.
