According to reports, Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon is eager to join Liverpool ahead of the next season and the childhood Liverpool fan might push for a transfer to Anfield before the window closes.
Gordon started in Liverpool’s youth setup before moving to Everton and then to Newcastle for £45 million in January 2023.
He played an integral role in 48 matches last season, scoring on 12 occasions and providing 11 assists.
His stellar performances earned him Newcastle’s Player of the Year award and a spot in the England squad for the Euros.
There are doubts about Gordon’s future at Newcastle, with Liverpool maintaining strong interest.
Previous talks between the clubs about a part-exchange deal involving Jarell Quansah fell through, as Newcastle wanted the young defender included in the deal, which Liverpool declined.
However, Liverpool remains interested and might propose a new player-exchange deal, potentially involving Joe Gomez.
Gordon is keen on moving to Liverpool, which boosts their chances of securing his signature.
However, Newcastle values the Englishman highly, setting his price at around £75 million, potentially rising to £100 million with add-ons.
They are also prepared to offer him a new contract with improved terms to retain him.
