The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria’s (ACPN) 43rd yearly International Scientific Conference, which started at the University of Ibadan (UI) International Conference Centre on Monday, July 22, 2024, will be rounded off on Saturday, July 27, 2024 with election of new executives to run the affairs of the association.
According to a statement signed by the Chairperson of the Conference Planning Committee, Grace Ikani, the theme of the conference: “Advancing Community Pharmacy Practice through Innovation and Collaboration,” was carefully chosen to impact community practice and improve national health indices. 
She said that over 3,000 pharmacists and other healthcare practitioners were expected at the conference.
“It is an opportunity for participants and exhibitors to showcase their products and services,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Association has called on the Federal Government to urgently investigate the activities of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), alleging that the system is not working for the benefit of most Nigerians.
The pharmacists, therefore, questioned the payment of capitations to hospitals who have no pharmacies in their facilities, adding that getting payment for services that they never rendered was ‘wasteful.’
