David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, who’s arguably one of the biggest African music stars at the moment traditionally tied the knot with his long-term partner, Chioma Rowland, also known as Chefchi, in a blaze of glory on the 25th of June, 2024.
The lovebirds tied the knot in a star-studded wedding ceremony which took place at the Habour Point in Lagos that had in attendance notable public figures from political space, business mogul and entertainment industries.
The 30 BG boss on Sunday before the wedding posted a series of pre-wedding photos with his fiancee rocking different outfits, and he captioned it with the hashtag of their wedding, “#CHIVIDO2024“.
If “for better, for worse” was a woman, it would definitely be Chioma, who has seen and heard it all, in her relationship with Davido! From friendship and love, characterised by setbacks, series of scandals, drama and trolls.
Davido, in a recent interview opened up about his relationship with Chioma, revealing that he had known her before his rise to fame and fortune.
Reflecting on this, Davido expressed gratitude for meeting her during that period, emphasizing that it would have been challenging for him to enter relationships now as he would feel every woman wants him for his money or status.
Davido revealed the significance of authenticity in his circle, noting that success for him lies not just in personal achievements but in the continued presence of those who stood by him during his humble beginnings.
Chioma’s enduring relationship with Davido dates back as far back as 2013. They met as students of the Babcock University after Lati, Davido right hand man introduced him to Chioma. While the singer pursued a degree in music, his fiancee was a student of Economics.
But from 2018 when Davido made their affair public at her 23rd birthday in October of that year, the singer has never missed an opportunity to gush about his partner. He also dedicated a song “Assurance” to her and gifted her a Porsche car.
Despite being the first woman in the singer’s life, Chioma was not the first woman to have a child or children for Davido. As a matter of fact, Davido had children with different women, before ever having one with Chioma.
Ayotomide was allegedly the mother of Davido’s first child, Aanuoluwapo. Ayotomide claimed that she had a sexual affair with Davido in 2013 when the young David came for a show at Ibadan, and Aanuoluwapo was born in 2014. But Davido had refused to be identified with her and her child.
In 2015, Sophia Mamodu, a niece of popular Nigerian media executive and politician, Dele Momodu, gave birth to Imade Adeleke after their brief relationship which started in 2013 became controversial. They recently began a legal tussle over the custody of their 9-year-old daughter.
Davido reportedly, through his lawyers, had asked the court to grant him joint custody of their daughter.
Another US based lady, Amanda gave birth to Hailey, who was also born in 2015. Larissa Yasmin Lorenco, a British model and DJ was rumored to be dating Davido in 2019. Larissa gave birth to Dawson in 2020.
There will be very few people to stand the tests of time that Chioma has stood, despite being the first in the singer’s life.
It would also be recalled that Davido had initially proposed to Chioma. The wedding was set to take place in July 2020, but was put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic that was ravaging the world then.
In 2021, there were rumours of Davido having an affair an Instagram model Yafai after a series of loved-up photos of the two broke the internet. The development heightened fears that all was not well with Davido and Chioma especially after the lovebirds unfollowing each other on Instagram.
The couple dispel the rumors after a video of Chioma attending Davido’s concert started trending online, with the duo leaving the venue together.
Davido gifted Chioma a new Mercedes G-wagon, in just a week after the singer had revealed that he’d be walking down the aisle with Chioma come 2023.
The couple secretly legalized their union after the unfortunate death of their first child, in a tragic accident in late 2022. Many had thought it was over between them following that sad incident. But they welcomed their twins in the United States in October, 2023.
Their glamorous traditional wedding hosted a distinguished lineup of guests, including Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Governor Ademola Adeleke, Governor Dapo Abiodun, Governor Godwin Obaseki, Governor Alex Otti, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Senator Daisy Danjuma, Seyi Tinubu, JJ Okocha, Obi Cubana, Jowizaza, Wale Jana, Adebola Williams, Victor Osimhen, Pocolee, and the host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, a host of others.
The event was also a grand celebration of culture and music, featuring captivating performances by the Legendary King Sunny Ade. The night also saw electrifying performances from an array of superstars, including Fireboy, Chike, Olamide, Kcee, Peruzzi, Young John, May D, and Zlatan Ibile, among others.
With their large traditional wedding celebrations done, the couple, have jetted out of the country to an undisclosed location for their honeymoon.
